For background music I normally have a massive playlist of atmospheric stuff like Burzum, Drudkh, Howard Shore, Wolves in the Throne room, destroyalldreamers, alcest, slowdive, negura bunget, tangerine dream etc.

If I'm actively listening to music I love like a sonambulist in daylights fire by dark fortress. But at these times I prefer albums to putting songs on repeat. But I do end up with herbal movement by the gathering on repeat a lot of the time. Those vocals are simply eargasmic, some of the best I have ever heard and CERTAINLY the best female vocals.

Ellie Goulding's album, especially 'Your Song', 'The Writer', and her version of 'Only Girl (In the World)'. I think her music perfectly encapsulates the contemporary British culture of young people, and her videos are simply gorgeous!

I never have songs on repeat. Sometimes I have albums on repeat though.

Albums that I like on in the background:

    Talking Book- Stevie Wonder
    Pet Sounds- The Beach Boys
2:00 am Paradise Cafe - Barry Manilow (yes, really...)

I'm not in anyway comparing the genius of Pet Sounds to the relative mediocrity of Paradise Cafe, but Paradise is quite an underrated album....

I never intentionally play songs too much because I am always worried I will overplay them and lose the enjoyment (I once had a very nice conversation with a woman in a record shop about this - she thought it was weird) but I always seem to have 'With You Forever' by Pnau on in the background. That song is completely resilient to being overplayed, thankfully.

James Morrison - Broken Strings, I'm not depressed. I just like the song.
