    Hey there,

well I've just thought about my future and the increased tuition fee's and asked myself whether there is anything else than Uni where I can get my degrees? I've heard from someone that there's a "system" where Uni's send you the exam papers over the post and you do the exams and send them back? So basically studying at home.. I'm not sure about this but yea

Do you know any other alternatives that other people use as well? I'm not saying that I'm not going to Uni but just in case so I can get some Infos...

    thx in advance

I think your friend meant the Open University, link: http://www.open.ac.uk/

It means that you can work and study in your own time, live at home, save money etc etc HOWEVER you will miss out on the non-academic things you learn from going to university - the prestige/reputation of the degree from that university, the friends you meet on the way and social life, the careers advice, and the ECs which not only teach you life skills but also look good on your CV.

I can definitely see the attraction of the Open University for mature students who have families and jobs, and especially now with the tuition fee increase ... however a lot of the growing up and lessons I've learnt at university have come from being there, making friends and learning who I am as a person... and I'm not sure I would have had that experience had I used the Open University.
