Hi, i'm 16 and doing AS Levels, but i've been asked to give private tuition to a 15 year old who's lived most of his life in Macau, to help him pass his GCSEs in England. This is primarily with his English, ie written expression and reading comprehension, but also Maths and Science. (Just for reference i aced my own GCSEs this summer.)

Having met him once, he seems bright and willing, but i'd really appreciate some advice on how i should go about teaching someone else. I already plan on speaking to my old/current english teachers (and other subjects now i think about it), but i just wondered if anyone knew of any good resources/books which'd help me, because i am going in completely blind. (It's pretty daunting!)

But apart from anything, i'd just appreciate any advice at all please!

To do it quickly, get the notes books for his english texts, read through them yourself, and make sure that you explain to him all the ideas in them. It probably won't get him a * but he'll definitely pass easily enough.
