This came up in conversation at tea tonight. yeah random! First, talking about memebers of the family that could be dead next Christmas, then how that Falklands reporter died last week- and then, surprise surprise- the Falklands!

    Anyway....what do you think?

I haven't exactly been infiltrating the Argies secret weapons stash in my spare time to see what they've got going for them.

Equally as, we really don't need another bloody pointless war at the moment, we've already got two going on...

I don't see why anyone cares about ownership of the Falklands tbh, it's not as if there's a lot going on there.

What's the second war? We are only in Afghanistan...!
Ok - say we have just pulled out of Afghanistan- like 1 year ago.

    ...Iraq?
Or have we pulled out of there completely now? I'm not really into the whole "current events" thingymibob.

We've pretty much finished in Iraq now. What's interesting though, is that a whole generation of soldiers have been trained for desert ops- how would they cope in the freezing and completely different conditions of the Falklands? Not to mention, our desert equipment!

I think we might have trouble without carrier support. Yes there is now a larger shore based presence with an operative airfield, however given range from Ascension I am not sure what could be flown down to reinforce.

However a submarine presence would make a seaborne invasion tricky, however who knows if we have such a presence at present.
