Hey, just wondering if anyone has any information about this course, because the website is pretty poor at telling you the course content! Alternatively, is anyone going there in 2011??

I'm doing a joint degree with English and Anthropology this year. And I totally agree about how rubbish the website is!

Yes! I applied for anthropology. A bit last minute, I must say. And when I was looking at the freshers page, hardly anyone was mentioning anthropology, so I got a bit worried

Hey guys, I will be studying Archaeology and Anthropology this year. Im not sure if you visited the Trinity St David page or the University's page. The University page gives you a clearer picture of whats in-store for us, its not easy to find which is a shame because I found it ten times more helpful. Heres the link:

Perhaps I'll see you there at the end of the moth

I did Arch Anth last year ffionj23.

Anthropology in your first year you will only have 2 lecturers, Samantha who is good, and Luci who is the best lecturer in the world, universally love by all. Period! The Archaeology is pretty good, I decided to move to Cardiff because the choice after year 1 is non existant and the topics covered are not of interest to me. This being said, the teaching cannot be faulted and at Lampeter whatever you do, because it's so small and collective you will be able to get feedback in person from lecturers you'd have no hope of getting elsewhere.

Thanks for the feedback moorw003. Going off track here but your the only person I can think of who might know the in's and outs of Lampeter. I received my accommodation letters a few days ago and have been allocated a shared room. I have no problem with that but all these stories in the newspapers about Aberystwyth's mess with accommodation has spooked me. I've tried getting in touch with the accommodation officer but no luck, I understand she must be busy but I was wondering if you have any idea what the shared bedrooms are like? And if not, anyone got any ideas with how to break the ice with a new roomie??

Lampeter does not have shared rooms so you have nothing to worry about. The shared part refers to the bathroom facilities.

The student life is rather relaxed. There aren't any raving nightclubs. The xtension is probably the nearest thing to a nightclub. But there's always something going on. There's the Kings Head which have open mic nights, quizzes, etc. Students generally make their own fun there. Getting drunk in hallways, climbing the hill, etc.
There aren't any main highstreet shops, there's a Sainsburys, Spar, Boots, and then there's a co-op.

Lampeter is a quirky little town though and the student life is good.
