Recently bought a new 1TB hard drive, opened up computer, unplugged all external cables, installed the new hard drive, plugged everything back in, and now the computer just totally fails to boot at all, and there are no LEDs lit on the motherboard either.

What on earth could it be? Failed power supply? Maybe even motherboard?

What's an easy way to troubleshoot such a problem?

The computer is custom built by the way, about three to four years old. Here are the specs:

    Intel Dual Core E6750
    nVidia EVGA 650i Ultra motherboard
    nVdida GeForce 9800GTX+ 512mb
    Geil 2GB 800MHz RAM
    Samsung Spinpoint 400GB hard drive
    Western Digital 40GB hard drive
Western Digital 1TB hard drive (new)
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
    Creative soundblaster 7.1 sound card

I was going to give you a sarcastic 'plug it in' but it seems like that's been covered.

Wouldn't really apply to a small 2-pin connector on a motherboard anyway

were all plugs but in correctly? Did you knock the motherboard by accident?

It could be the new harddrive is a dud.
