i have 2 offers that i am considering taking (both at the same uni)

they are:

1. just plain accounting
2. accounting with e-business (how businesses use internet and other info. technologies to help them etc.)

do you think it is better to do the second one, or just plain accounting??

any thoughts???

The second one sounds more interesting and varied to me, not that i know anything at al about accounting.

I would say in terms of career prospects plain accounting would be better because it will be more in depth. E-Business is somthing that can be learned later.

perhaps if you chose plain accounting, after the end of the first year you can change course to do accounting with something else.

otherwise, three years of it does sound a little dull even if it is better career (horrible word) wise, i'd choose accounting with ebusiness

i dunno now see..

it says in the prospectus that you can change the course after the first year - so if i choose the e-business one, if i don't like it i could just change to accounting for years 2 and 3. d'you think?

coz if i change from plain accounting to accounting with something else after year1, i might have missed too much? but if i do it the other way round i might miss too much of the plain course

argh!! i'm confused

Why don't you e-mail or ring up the university and ask them how easy it would be to change. They know best

to be honest i know nothing about accounting, but i suppose its aimilar situation with a lot of subjects.

for example, at nottingham for economics you can do plain economics or economics with.... if you do plain economics then after first year you can change...its basically the same first year as the first year is just a grounding in economics, in 2nd and 3 rd years is where it gets applied

if i was you i would give the uni an email and find out the situation. I'd imagine that if you did plain accounting then after the first year, providing you got good enough marks in it, youd be able to change over to accounting and business

it really depends on whether the degree is joint accounting and business (ie half and half) in which case you might not be able to change or if its accounting WITH ebusiness (ie accounting just specialising in business aspect of it)

hope this makes sense, definetly contatct the uni though whatever
