# C1 Question Watch

I tried subbing in 1 and 5 but dont get anywhere far.

Could someone help on this question please, not too sure how to start it:

I tried subbing in 1 and 5 but dont get anywhere far.
By substituting the above points in the equation , you get;

5 = a + b + 3 ,

a + b = 2

Now , you can differentiate the equation as you are given a maximum point.

Differentiate(with respect to x):

dy/dx = 2ax + b

Now you know that the gradient at the maximum point is always zero so plug in those points in the above equation.

You'll get two equations-Solve them simultaneously and there you go
