I'm anon as i'm really ashamed how i feel. My cousin is 22 and today got engaged to boyfriend of 7years, first love etc. I amso happy for her as i know its what she wants. All she's ever wanted to do is marry him & settle down etc.

However the whole situation has made me face my own reality & fear of living alone the rest of my life. I've been single for 18months after a turbulant and abusive relationship. After a few flings i did make the decision to not get into a relationship this year.

Although ive had a sudden crash of worry about whether im attractive enough, or i'll ever end up happy and with a family. I've focused so much on my career im worried whether i'll ever meet anyone.

Im finding it hard to SHOW happiness to my cousin. She's always been the one to get the priveledges. One to get a first in degree, now first to get engaged- and my mum has gone overjoyed by it, i find it hard to join in.

Just wondering whether its normal- or anyone else has felt a similar pang of fear/jealousy?

Ohhhhohoho... I am in the complete same boat as you are. But I think that there is always gonna be someone out there.
And, if you don't find the "one true love" as told in disney movies, I feel if we still have great friends, we can't be alone.

Don't worry, cheer up and try and enjoy your cousin's wedding. If anything, you might meet someone there!!

How old are you? At the end of the day there's plenty of time to get that someone special. Best thing is stop looking so hard and live your life.

Thank god for that - for a minute there you had me thinking there was a trend of weak incest in your family.

For a second there I thought 2 of your cousins got engaged ... to each other :teehee:

Be positive and try and be happy for your cousin. Who knows you could meet someone at the wedding, I mean... that's like the best place for people to check each other out.

Try to be how your cousin is, and maybe that would improve.

Distinct anticlimax after opening this thread, I was expecting stories of hilarious incest.
