How are you trying to connect to the router - using a wired (ethernet) connection or wireless?

An IMG is a disc image file, which is why you're being prompted to burn a CD/DVD when opening it. You can use a program like DAEMON Tools to 'mount' the image virtually, without needing to use an actual disc: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/downloads

An Ethernet connection shouldn't need any drivers for your router to be installed to work correctly. All that I can think of is that your Ethernet card in your PC might need drivers, however. Open up "Device Manager" via the start menu search and look under "Network adapters" to find out the make/model, then right-clicking should allow you to update the drivers. If that doesn't work, try searching for drivers for the manufacturer's website.

Netgear you say? what happens when you visit here? (note, this is only the IP for some netgear routers, possibly not all).
