Anyone hate having to spend time with the in-laws, or who do not get on with the in-laws? I mean this in a non-marital way, i.e your girlfriend/boyfriend parents

I would love to have Zainab Masood as a mother in law.

I used to DREAD the "every other Christmas" I spent with my ex-boyfriend's family, who were the most boring, frigid, loveless people I have ever had the displeaseure to meet. This year, first post-breakup Christmas, ALL my family were home, which hasn't happened for years and years. I'm so glad to spend Christmas with a family who is actually glad for every game of charades, every stupid paper hat, every ridiculous comment my Nan comes out with. My heart goes out to you if you are stuck with the kind of In Laws I used to waste time with, it really does!

Well mine are just really critical and you can't have a serious conversation with them. They are awful, and sarcastic.

Sound like terrible people to be spending this time of year with =( I'm sorry. Is your partner going to yours next year? Will that be any better?

Yeh. My boyfriends parents don't like me at all. It makes life incredibly awkward. Although, tbh I have never liked them either so at least it's mutual.

Thanks. She went to mine this year, but every year we have to spend it with each others families. I just really dread going there because sometimes we just sit in silence because they have nothing to say because they can't hold down a serious conversation, everything must be sarcastic or crude or be a joke. It's pathetic.

It must be awful for you too then when you have to go to their house.

Eh, I don't hate my boyfriend's parents, they just don't seem to approve of me much :P. I'm introduced as 'their son's school friend' and they're fairly difficult about having me over.
Having said that, they're still nice to my face and got me a pretty Christmas card :')

Some 'son' would be getting *****-slapped for that. Even if its not his fault. Lol.

I like my girlfriend's parents more than I like mine.

I've never spent Christmas with them. They spend that with her grandparents, who sound absolutely mental.
