Now that half term is drawing to a close, I need to rethink some strategies for when I return to school. Basically, the problem is, u know when u get home from school n try n concentrate on work n u just get so tired u just HAVE to move onto the bed and sleep? I then wake up feeling wierd :s - sometimes headachey, always a wierd taste in mouth, just dreery, and can't be arsed with homework. I then cant get to sleep that night. Such a vicious cycle! Need advice!

i ve got the same problem, especially after rugby training.cant be bothered to do anything
I find that waking up early like 4/5 then doing homework then works really well, in the morning your brain is much fresher although the tiredness is annoying, especially trying to stay awake on the bus home without falling asleep and going 9 miles extra.
yeah. Its just the problem is I find school knackering....with all the concentration and conversations n seein mates etcetc n runnin round lessons all day...i just find by 4pm I have no energy. Some form of herbal remedy may be good...like inhaling ginger or whatever it is thats mena work? hm

Don't let yourself nap when you get home. Have a drink and a bite to eat when you get back from school(you could be dehydrated or in need of some sugar)and then have a break before starting some work. It might be best waiting until after your tea to start. Having a nap just messes up your sleep patterns and will end up worse in the long run.
I don't usually buy into "alternative" health options, they generally rely on a psychosomatic response (or placebo effect). Its a hard one to judge. Do you reckon you do too much during the day. It seems obvious, but it's surprisingly easy to overwork yourself if you've got a lot on.
well not really...I don't have any particularly strenuous extra-curricular activities on at the moment. God help me when the school footy season starts. I tried drinking ginger ale once and it seemed to help. Thing is, 1st lesson Im always right on the ball and my brain works hard like a mo'fo. Last lesson Im just too tired to think. Oh well.

exactly how i feel too and then u cnt sleep properly during the night..etc.
I sometimes sleep in the bus while coming from Uni eventhough I got my mp3 player loud on my ears..but I think it's to do with the sleeping pattern cause if your body is used to sleeping at a certain time then gradually you will fall asleep on that same time.. so you have to know about your body's clock

I think you have to ride through the knackerdness after school and go to bed at say midnight, so then next day you won't be so tired so can go to bed at midnight again. Reason why this doesn't work for me is my tendency to do that then stay up 'til 3am one night, making me too tired again. It does get to be a bit of a problem when you're knackered in an extremely boring lesson -->
I get this aswell, extreme tiredness after school. I don't finish lessons until 5:30 and later, but I just force myself to work. Try having a drink and something to eat, it works if you believe it will, and then set down to some work. After all that, it's probably dinner time anyway. Also, try to get to bed at a reasonable hour, if you get up slightly earlier than needed you can work then instead of at 12am!
Oh, don't sleep during the day, it feels so terrible when you wake up. Try to force yourself to stay awake longer. Drink some coffee or something. Then go to bed at 10pm and sleep right through. You'll feel better if you do that!
Totally get what you mean, as soon as i get home from school i end up crashing on the sofa and sleeping till about 6:30, which totally wastes my day and means i often miss homework and stuff. I really dont know how to stop it, just school really tires my out.
