Is it too late to change my university course Watch

    Hi there,

I am studying English Literature and German and have just completed my first semester. However I have been contemplating for a few weeks changing course since I am not enjoying the English Literature element of my joint honours degree. In fact I now want to study German and Spanish together.

The only problem is that I will be studying Spanish Ab Initio and I have missed the first semester- plus there is a Spanish exam in January which I will of course miss too.

What is the likelihood of me being able to change at this point in the year? Or will I have to wait until the end of the first year and start again from scratch??

    Thanks.

You would need to ask your uni, as different unis will have different deadlines for changing. But it is unlikely you'd be able to swap this late.

You will need to speak to your Personal Supervisor or Head of Department. Providing you meet the pre-requisite requirements, it is likely that you will be able to transfer at the end of the first year. However, the sooner you contact your department, they can begin making arrangements. It is likely that you will need some experience of Spanish - or be able to demonstrate relevent expertise. If there are core modules, it may be possible for you to be exempt from these if you have equivelent skills or take them in the second year. Most Universitiers try to be as accomodating as possible with cases of this type.
