Is it an ear infection?

Hi there. I haven't been feeling very well recently but yesterday night i knelt down and my right ear went funny , like its bunged up and needs to pop , normally i'd think nothing of it but this time its very painful. I waited andd waited for it to pop naturally but it wouldn't. So feeling not too good i went to bed at 10.30, i didn't sleep until 4.00 this morning because whichever way i orientated my head was horribly painful. Also it has been leaking gunk. i think i may have some water trapped in there but it still hasn't popped and i have to go to work now.
What should i do? Any interesting (safe) home remedies?
I'll check this board again when i get in from work. Thanks xxx

go to the pharmacy and see if they can give you anything. if not doctors.

I get blocked ears quite frequently and i've had them syringed at the docs before but now use this spray that unblocks them that the pharmacy recommended.
I'd think if yours is actual gunk rather than wax that it might be an infection and you might need to see a doctor but def see the pharmacist just incase.

Sound disturbingly like otitis media with an impending perforation.
See a doctor today.

Heat will help the pain, but make sure it stays dry.

That sounds very much like my ear infection a few years back (which followed about 3 back-to-back colds).

However, mine didn't start leaking until the eardrum burst - then it didn't stop

There were a few nasty complications afterwards, which led to me spending 5 days in hospital, but I won't go into that here...

Generally, GPs won't give anti-biotics for ear infections unless they think you really need them (I get them quite often, on and off). Basically, keep your ear dry and go to the pharmacy and talk to them about it. If it doesn't get better soon then go to your GP.
