Has anyone ever had a mole removed on the NHS? Watch

    Hi everyone,

I have a mole in a quite embarrassing place and I was wondering how to go about getting it removed on the NHS. It is on my bum and I find it annoying for a number of reasons - sometimes it is itchy and catches on my underwear etc. I also feel self conscious when with my boyfriend as its quite big and you can really see it during sex etc. Its bothered me for years and I really want to get rid of it.

Would I be able to get it removed or will they refuse because its in a weird place? Has anyone ever had a mole removal before? I'd like to hear any experiences. I suppose I'll have to go to the GP and let him see it?

    Thanks for any help.

Best thing to do is to go to your GP and see what they say. I don't think itching is a trait of moles though! It sounds like you mainly want it removed for cosmetic reasons in which case it would need to be a private procedure.

I had one removed, it was quite painless, just the area where it was removed from felt quite tight for a while, and even now I can't put pressure on it for too long.

I had one removed on my back, basically because i didn't like it and it itched a lot. I went to see my GP and he reffered me to a hospital.. went to the hospital thinking it was going to be removed but the *****y doctor woman told me she wouldn't be able to do it because it was for cosmetic reasons even though it was making me self concious about wearing a bikini and stuff.. in the end i went back to my GP and he told me he would remove it himself in the doctors surgery for free on the nhs. So yes if you go to your GP they may be able to sort something out.. if not its probably a couple of hundred pounds to have it removed.

They won't refuse due to the location, but they may do if they deem it harmless(cometic)

The labs get them sent in from aaallll sorts of places, and a mole off your bum is not the worst by far.

Make sure you tell them if its itching or changed size/shape.
