Each culture/religion/race having an equal share in the demography of an area? E.g. 20% Muslim, 20% Christian, 20% Hindu, etc. And the same with different races?

And must the 'multi' in multiculturalism include all religions, cultures and races?

What does multiculturalism mean in objective terms? And does that apply to the UK?

There is no "objective" meaning. Different people use words in different ways. In the case of 'multiculturalism', the meaning varies considerably depending on who you are speaking to.

Yet, there must be an objective standard for one of these meanings you describe. I would like to be enlightened.

Personally I would refer to a society as multicultural if more than one culture is followed by individuals in the community, where 'culture' refers to a collection of practices like choice of food, preferred music, religious rituals, family relations, etc. Furthermore, the state does not interfere in the private cultural practices of an individual, nor discriminate against those with particular cultural practices.

The more significantly different cultures that exist in a society, the more multicultural that society is.
