Which university are you at, and how 'science-y' would you describe your course to be? I'm more interested in the sociolinguistics side so would like to avoid going somewhere where the course content is more focused on the 'science' side.

I haven't started on my courses yet, I've just asked about the schools I've applied to..so basically people tell me York's course is very theoretical (how 'science-y' that is I do not know), and Queen Mary's got more content on sociolingsuitics, language variation, etc.
You can also check out the curriculum on school websites and see what courses they offer..or ask the admission tutor for a course description..
Hope that helps! :?
