Tummy pain

I think I have no choice but to make an appointment to see my GP this week...HATE the thought but I have put up with weird painsin my tummy for months now; they've not been toooo bad and noramlly occur when I am laying down (so normally when I'm in bed)

However; in the past few weeks they've got much worse and all my abdomen area just feels awful; often really painful, often swollen (although it doesn't appear to look it...it just feels it?)

For the poast 3 days I've had really bad cramps accorss my lower back; its definately not period pain but very very painful; it kind of comes in a wave of pianful achiness and then fades.

I'm having trouble enough desrcibing this on here...how I can tell the doc I'm not sure. It actually dawned on me that I should go after I babysat the other night- one of ths kids said he'd had a pain in his neck (like he'd pulled and muscle or something_ which basically hurts when he turns his head to an extreme. He said he'd had it since Thurs and his mum was making an appt on Monday.

Well if thats a fair reason to go...am I ok to go? How should I explain it? I'm rubbish at doing this; I've not told anyone as I hope it will just go away. Its worrying tho cos I can't put it down to anything and I can't see it!

So worried :frown:

I'd go; much better safe than sorry. And don't worry about being able to explain it to your doctor, it's their job to be able to diagnose things, so will know the kind of things they are looking for in someone of your age, lifestyle and stuff. Whenever I go to my doctor, she takes my weight, diet and everything and keys it into a computer and then narrows down the kind of things she's looking for, so not being quite sure how to explain what's wrong, which everyone experiences, won't be a problem.

I'm no doctor, so please don't weight my next comment heavily, but a friend of mine had symptoms similar to yours (I believe) and it turned out to be Irritable Bowel (sp) Syndrome. May be worth looking up that kind of thing too see if the descriptions match?

Good luck, definitely get yourself to the GP, there's no harm in it, it's what they are there for.

Definently go to see you doctor, and don't worry about not being able to describe it too well, your doctor will help you describe it, theyre really good at finding out whatever's up! Don't panic and just book an appointment as soon as possible  Let us know how you get on!

Yeah go and see your doctor and just say what you said on here, then they will probably feel the area which hurts you. It might be a virus or something, you wont have to worry about it either once the doctor has seen you
Good luck

Lord, I'm getting so nervous now! That week when I felt really sick after the first day I swore if I felt that bad again I'd ring- on the Thursday I lay in bed at whatever ridiculous hour I was waking up; feeling ill and decided that todfay was the day. Once everyone had left I'd ring...got as far as finding the surgery number and then decided not to call.

I think I'm worried that they wont do anything. Everytime I go I feel I've been fobbed off (I've done my tour of practice doctors!) what are they feeling for? Cos right now my tummy is quite swollen...but it doesn't last.

It might be Apendicitis (swelling and soreness of the appendix) or it might be nothing, try

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/

see if any of your symptoms match anything, its a good site and i use it often, as im always ill :frown: .
Even if you think its nothing, go to the doctors, only they can tell you that you are OK. They should be quite good and if you think that they have fobbed you off then dont leave til you get the answer you feel comfortable with.

Get well soon

i think it sounds like theres a possibility of appendicitis aswell, but its prob not that serious!
i think its easier to go to the GP's surgery to ask for an appointment, i dont like speaking on the telephone  but you should definately go and see the doctor, there might be nothing to worry about really, but better safe than sorry eh?
