    Hi everybody!

So, I was wondering... when you're applying as an individual, the new rules of entering a reference say that you must fill in your referees email address and phone number, and then UCAS will email them to ask for a reference. Your tutor fills in the reference, sends it and it's all good... But do they ever contact the referee after that? Do they call him/her or email them or something like that, maybe to check their identity or, I dunno?

If I'm reading into what you're thinking correctly, then I wouldn't even try it in case you do get caught out, but if I'm reading into what you're thinking incorrectly, then I apologise.

I think they may call up to ascertain the referee's identity randomly but I doubt it is regular procedure. After all there are thousands of independent applications so it is more of a hindrance than a benefit. It depends on the individual reference.

    Very transparent question.

Oh, no no no... God, I realize how it sounds now. But no, I was just asking because I want to warn my teacher that he may be getting a phone call from ucas, so he doesn't think it's a prank if someone calls him and starts speaking in English.

Nah, they don't wrote one from my friend in November pretending to be her former tutor she's received all her offers back now they didn't ever call me.
