A while back I messed up the upgrade of IE. So I decided to uninstall it.

However, every time I try to upgrade IE it says I have already have a version on my PC. I've tried using tons of programs to try and remove it and even messed with the registry. No such luck.

I think I need to remove every trace of it before I can install it again.

Also, my Windows Update never connects. I am certain that my firewall is not blocking it. what do?

You uninstalled IE? This is quite difficult to do - more than just uninstalling an update in the Control Panel.

CLick Start; click Run...; type "iexplore" (without the quotes) and hit enter; see if that brings up IE or an error message.

If you're just wanting to install an upgrade, try and skip a stage and go straight for IE9 Beta (it seems stable) http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/info/TryIE9/
