Sony Walkman, and they're also really sturdy. I've dropped mine down flights of concrete steps and it still works perfectly. First MP3 player I've had that's lasted more than nine months (two years, in fact.)

Also, yay for not liking Apple. I can't stand them either.

Sandisk sansa clip has served and is serving me well. Doesn't force you to use preposterously bad software either (iTunes, or anything Sony do).

iTunes is bloated and slow, it uses a lot of memory while lacking features such as plugins and keyboard media key control inside our outside the main interface. It's basically a desktop extension of the iTunes store.

Putting aside that Sony can't be forgiven for this, all sync software of theirs that I have encountered converts files to proprietary Sony formats for no good reason. This is incredibly frustrating for people if their next music player isn't Sony made.

It's so much simpler to just drag and drop things you want in Windows Explorer (assuming you are on Windows).

i was against apple until i got my ipod touch... but i like touch screens.

i had a creative zen before which is AMAZING but quite expensive. however, creative make all other kinds of mP3 players which are cheaper. you can usually find loads of these on ebay!

otherwise i would recommend a sony walkman, they are still the best out there.
