Hi, its that time of year again were you starting applying for a PHD. My question is would someone with a masters have an edge on someone with a bachelors degree? If so how much of an edge?

Depends on the subject and your undergraduate degree. In the Arts/Humanities, a master's is almost essential in order to progress onto a PhD, especially if you're looking for funding. A good BA with a decent MA grade would give you an edge over someone with only a BA.

For the Sciences, it's easier to go from a BSc to a PhD without an MSc, so I'm not entirely sure how much of an edge you'd have.
