# Finding the Solution Watch

1. Hey TSR, I don't think I've asked a maths question for a while so here I go.

A particle is attached to a spring and suspended vertically from an oscillation platform. The vertical displacement y, of the particle from a fixed point at time t is modelled by the differential equation:

I've got my general solution to be:

I am then given that initially, the displacement and velocity are both 0. So I know I have to just sub in 0 into my equation, and that gets me the value of my A constant, but how do I get the B constant?

2. Displacement is y
Velocity is dy/dt
3. dy/dt is velocity, right? if so, find dy/dt and substitute in dy/dt=0 and t=0
4. Ah silly me! M1 never was my module Cheers for the help guys I thought it would be to set dy/dt as 0, but I just wanted to confirm and find out why
