I’m creating this thread here because I feel that it has to do with
ideology, no entertainment, but no problem if it gets moved.

/// Do you think that the Peep Show is good for society?

/// Is it an example for people to follow or, on the contrary, an example
of what you are better off avoiding?

I’d guess it’s the second case, but I’d like to know what all of you guys
    think about it.

I think it should neither encourage or discourage us. It just shows us how some people do live.

It's an entertaining, funny programme. There's nothing more to it. I don't think people watch these programmes to seek guidance on how to live there life... well I hope not :mmm:

Peep Show is so funny. I love it. It's a TV show which exists for comical value... Not to model your life around.

What I mean is: there’s a double vision of the program; one that
shows you how certain attitudes can lead you to suffering, even if you
are cool. The other one seems to state that all that suffering is
actually a cool thing in itself.

I propend towards the first interpretation; like: the team who have created
the Peep Show are telling us: we are showing you some nice people who
unfortunately are making some mistakes that will cause them to be
unhappy so, think twice before you make them as well.

Think how Tony, horrible strange lady, (in Series 2 I think) manages to
spoil the relationship between Jeremy and Nancy, even though
he loves Nancy. You can see how that happened only because he
was somehow insecure. So I’d say, that is a useful insight. The name
of the program also suggests that. Peep Show: a show that lets you
have a look at people’s emotional world. A world that would be otherwise
so difficult to discover, as people tend to hide it from each other.

Of course it's bad, it's basically the sole cause of poverty and climate change, especially Dobby.

i agree totally. it felt like he was just incapable of saying no. maybe he felt shy, maybe he was worried in case Tony in revenge might have done something against his relationship with Nancy.

silly boy you should have told her to f*** off and let Nancy hear it while you were saying it.

Also you can see how nasty Sophie was to Mark every time he was
acting somehow clumsily. And I don’t think she achieved the results
    she wanted.

yes, i think thats another example that shows you how the authors are teaching us not to do that mistake. why should she be nasty to him only because he lacks self-confidence? it didnt offend her, so, she should have been especially lovingly to him. then he wouldnt have resented her and the wedding wouldnt have gone so ****tly. then, think about it. shes the one who gets the worst. despite being sooooooooo cool..

Yeah I noticed that although personally I identify more with Jeremy as he
looks like me and somehow reflects some of my ideas sometimes. But yes,
    definitely:

she seems to “freeze” every time he acts inadequately and
looks at him very nastily like if she thinks “you’re embarrassing me because
you don’t know how to behave”. Then she also makes a mistake when she tries
to change him. I think: you either accept someone or choose someone else
    instead.
