    hey we're house hunting for september and just wanted to find out if anyone knows of any landlords to avoid as every city has those dodgy ones out to screw you.

    Your best bet is to ask the people who are living there when you go to look round the house (away from the landlord if they're doing the viewing)... They won't know about deposits of course but with deposits they can't really screw you over at the end of the year if you've done nothing wrong (make sure you take pictures of everything at the start & end of the year). I've never heard of anyone having major problems with their landlord though (Here, I mean, not in general haha)
