I've backed up files that I need.

First happened when I tried doing an update on my AVG 2011. It said I had no components and then told me I need to fix it, and various things and says the laptop needs to be restarted despite the title of the pop up box saying it needs to reboot. I pressed postpone to get rid of it. It's being incredibly slow, stuff isnt loading quickly. So I've opened windows task manager and googling all the processes and there is one called csrss.exe which apparently is a trojan. How do I get rid of it? I havent even begun to look through the rest yet...

csrss.exe can be a legitimate file - don't delete unless an antivirus.
I used to have AVG, but it was getting ridiculous, so I got Microsoft Security Essentials. Perhaps you should change it, especially if this is a virus and it wasn't intercepted.

Reading this it sounds like you haven't restarted yet, try it and see what happens
