Topshop sizes - bigger?

Is it just me, or do Topshop boost their sizes? E.g. A size 8 is not really a size 8, it's labelled "size 8" but is more like a 10 in other shops? I know shops vary with sizes, but this is something I've noticed with Topshop.

Depends what it is you're buying, I notice this with their basics but not so much with other things.

yep, i'm a size 6 generally, but when putting on size 6 stuff from topshop, it's way too big...

^ this is true. It has been proven. It was in the papers a few weeks ago. (yes I know don't believe what you read in the papers but I can tell you I am not a size 6-and even that's too big- so they must be doing something with their sizes!) It is a marketing trick to make people buy their clothes because they can fit into a smaller size, thus they feel better and buy more clothes.

all the sizes at topshop are odd! seriously when buyin jeans take a few pairs of the same size n try them all on they will fit differently! seriously! and there black trousers are small! i promise u!

Topshop have done research into womens body shapes, and all things like that, and have found that women have increased in size and their body shapes have changed over the last few years so are changing all their sizes to accomodate bigger boobs and hips etc!

Quite gutted about this as I'm slim and do not have big boobs. Here come a load of shopping trips getting annoyed!

Topshop sizes seem to vary a lot. I bought two size eight ribbed vests which appeared to be exactly the same apart from the colours, but they're slightly different fits.

Yes, I heard that Topshop made their clothes 1 size smaller too on the radio, though I always thought sizes were supposed to be standardised - a size is a size wherever you go.

i hope they stop doing that, topshop use to be the only place where i can get jeans that fit me as most places only goes down to size 8, if they make everything a size bigger that means i will have no place to shop :frown:

btw, anyone knows where i can get size 6 or under jeans?

I find I'm an 8 in tops in Topshop, and a 10 in other places.

Honestly, I think everywhere is getting more generous in their cuts - and they still don't cater for waists.

Which is a good thing - clothes must fit you really well! I always find that I have tops too tight at the bust and too loose at the waist, and jeans which fit my hips have tons of extra material everywhere else.

Shops cater for people with less bust'n'hip.

topshop sizes tend to be smaller than 'normal' sizes.they cater for smaller people n i don't mean petites i mean skinner people that sorta thing.so sizes in topshop would be different from sizes in other shops

Really?! I don't think so. I got a size 12 in the school trousers the other day... and people think I'm like an 8. But then I got extra long and the waist on them is much smaller than the regular cuz they think tall people have smaller hips I guess. But there is the fact that I don't want my clothes uncomfortably tight like some people wear them!

on tv a spokes person for topshop did say they have made their sizes bigger i cant remember why she said they have made them bigger tho

im a size 8 jeans in top shop and 10 in other places, but a sie 8 if its normal trousers :redface:

Ive never noticed that. I am a size 12/10 in topshop a size 12/10 in new look a size 12/10 in miss selfrigde a size 12/10 in HandM. But then again i havent tried anything on in topshop in ages and ages.
