I kind of like heraldry - all those azure fields and escutcheons rising - very poetic.

Shame, I really liked Imperial. They would have won if it wasn't for Fernando buzzing in when Bezer knew it was Brazil! Can't blame him though, he was easily the second best and has been since the start of the Challenge. Liverpool really impressed me, particularly Wainwright (who was exceptional). Having written them off, I can almost see them reaching the final. It's the closest this stage of the contest has ever been, if some of the teams aren't quite as strong as last year (no winner this year could be predicted v Gonville and Caius, who are better than all of this years' teams).

Reply 4004

So what happens for Imperial - can they still get to the semi finals?

Reply 4005

a great contest ! so glad that Imperial will play again. Bezer is amazing. Also his cardigan could set a new fashion trend.

Zero Sum

Hughes

Rameau ( bear™ did not write this down but he was definitely going to say it )

Volstead

Hayek

Kingsley Amis

Wainwright is also v. talented. Bennett looked really annoyed throughout the show for some reason.

Yes, St Cats are the only team knocked out. imperial need to win their next match though, or else they'll be out. Liverpool and Peterhouse through so far.

Shame to see Imperial go... lots of Geography and History questions and they weren't strong enough on the Physics ones.... Smith and Joly de Lotbiniere very impressive... Bezer frustrated me with his incorrect interruptions, don't think I've seen much lower than -15!

Great show . Sorry that Mr Bezer will not appear again. the York guys were on storming form.

Good list. :five: I just caught up. It was fun seeing all that working on a maths problem in public by Herries (St John's) only to be crushed by the answer. :teehee: In a cruel way. :colone:

So now we have the semi-finals sorted.

Liverpool
Peterhouse
York
St John's

What do we think the likely outcome will be?

I'm going for York-vs-St John's as the final. :yep:

bonjour Fullofsurprises :pierre:

York are very likely to win overall unless something happens to their Captain before the final :colondollar:

I hope the University of York win. By far the most entertaining and well-rounded team!

They are fun. It's always nice to see an enjoyable team do well in the show.

People forget York were just beaten by Peterhouse. Although I still believe York to be favourites, it's surprising how many people write off the latter.

Actually, to be fair, Peterhouse have been excellent and they have to be in with a very strong chance. The final could easily be Cambs/Ox, but I kind of like the York team, so hope they make it.

Peterhouse are very entertaining.... Mr Powell & the delectable Ms Woods in particular.

York I can see going through. de Lotbiniere impressive, Smith insanely good on Geography and Chem questions always come up, Landon Cole a good captain, and McLoughlin seems like a good 4th person. Peterhouse not quite as strong but still beat them so it remains to be seen. Liverpool a two man team, with neither player amazing, and St. John's have Harries, who is alright but I despise, Clegg (who is excellent), Russell (who is average), and Sowood, who seems to do very little.

York winning it all; Peterhouse losing in the final.
