And we have a new record for the lowest score ever in UC, unbroken since Exeter's 350-15 loss against Corpus Christi Oxford in 2009. I think Spike Asri's interruptions managed to take away the majority of the team's points. Hope he wasn't in the student union watching the match today.
Birmingham seems to be quite weak at science. I think that will cost them later on.

Got 21 questions correct in total, more starters correct than usual.

Ones I ought to have got but didn't were Debye, countable and 36 (I managed to think of every 2-digit square except that one).

Ones I got wot they didn't:
Turgid
Cassegrain
I May Destroy You
Tunguska
Eccentricity
Alternative hypothesis

I'm actually tempted to expect them to do what St Andrew's did last year and have a shock defeat in the second round. False sense of security and all that.
But, it's true that the captain and Robinson are a good combo.

I got 21 this time - 8 starters and 13 bonuses. Should probably have been able to do better but I'm lacking in several areas. Was only on 5 about 10 minutes into the match.

My bad, turns out there was a team that scored 10 back in the 70s... it was also Sussex!!

A fairly high-scoring game that's also close! I was rooting for UCL towards the end - an Imperial v UCL matchup would've been a fun one to watch in the student union. Managed to get 23 right.

Ones I got wot they didn't:
Palladium
Glinka
Tritium
Hector

Slightly fewer this time - got 17. There was still too much modern stuff for my liking, and I thought questions on which football team outside of Manchester or London was the last to win the Premier League were the type that wouldn't appear on UC...

Think that's a bit unfair, but the Blackburn question was really quite basic football knowledge I thought, and the FA Cup Manchester/London question was very ill-defined. (What are you defining as Manchester, because if you're using Greater Manchester then that includes Wigan, and if you're using the city of Manchester, that excludes Manchester United?)

Yet more evidence that I don't understand Manchester.

It did help with that question that in the run-up to the last US election I looked up every election on wikipedia in the past hundred years.

These are the trials for getting on to the university's team for University Challenge
