Didn't get too many questions, although there were more of ones that I got & they didn't.
Anaximander, Shostakovich*, Ravel, Venus, Methane and Seaborgium

*was that meant to be the Waltz no. 2? It sounded very off

It didn't sound like it at all to me which is why I thought it wouldn't be Shostakovich.

i managed to get 5 and 1/2 past the students this time :h:

i) Llewellyn

ii) 1923

iii) Beethoven ( Sonata Pathétique )

Didn't count how many I got but the questions seemed easier than usual on average.

Cool. Some of them are a bit, well, dull, but the Downing - vs - Durham one was good yesterday. Semi-Finals from tomorrow.

I like Victoria C-M but I find the show frustrating, mainly because I'm usually not as good as the teams. :teehee:

Ah yes, Loveday-Martinelli, etc. Most impressive. I assume Loveday is now a Silk or something.

It’s been a very ‘binary’ second round so far, either massively one sided or extremely close except for the King’s London vs Hertford Oxford match which was the only ‘average’ match but one where King’s surprised me with victory!

That gives me great pleasure to announce that there are no Oxford teams left, which surely hasn’t happened for a while.

This week, Birmingham did not disappoint and St Andrews should be happy they got more than 10. I like how Jeremy didn't rub salt into Sussex’s wound by not disclosing their first round score.

Christmas series starts next week (featuring an eclectic mix of universities represented including Bradford, Winchester and Portsmouth) and Imperial face Exeter in the new year. On paper it should be easy for the former but King’s pulled off a surprise so anything can happen.

Of the teams so far Edinburgh, Birmingham and Trinity look to do well, with St John’s and Reading mid-tier because they are so dependent on their captains, should they run out of steam the whole team will, followed by King’s and finally Emmanuel. Bit too many Cambridge teams there, and I speak as an alumnus (!), I wish they’d have put the two teams against each other in the HSL round to eliminate one of them (more so because I wanted to see more of RNCM) but there we are.
