Thanks! But the meeting in this year ended with Manchester's win.Right?
What kind of that meeting on aired nowadays?

Both Magdalen and Manchester are on the current series of University Challenge. However, people can only be on one series of University Challenge, so the current teams are different than the ones from Brain World Cup.

Lincoln College, Oxford against the University of Manchester tonight guys

My money's on Manchester. I'd tip them for the series. Any Oxbridge fanboys/girls wanna have a little wager?

How good was that?!

Right at the end

That was so tight. I found the questions pretty tough tonight. I got some of the maths and some music but little else.

Manchester were really poor tonight, they won't defend their title

Very poor for almost the entire match, then a hundred points in five minutes.... It was bizarre.

does anyone else watch it then?. i think i'm at the point where i have an unhealthy obsession with the show!
has anybody got a fave team this year then?

all comments/opinions appreciated xoxoxo

You seem like an informed fan. I have a few questions.

1) do all of the universities enter?
2) are all the matches on TV.
3) why are Cambridge and Oxford allowed so many entries?

Thanks

1) Most universities audition each year.
2) Yes.
3) Because they compete as individual colleges instead of the combined university. I believe the Oxbridge team numbers are capped, or we might otherwise see more Oxbridge teams on each series; e.g. the Magdalen team that won a couple of series ago tried unsuccessfully to get on the year before, and I don't think the team could have been so much weaker the year before that they didn't make the cut of the top 28.

Thanks. Do you know/have a list of the universities that applied (the 28)

Unless you know something I don't (ie. the actual results) then I don't think so. Against a stronger team, they wouldn't have been allowed to come back from 85 down and they were gifted a number of points on poor buzzes. Of course this could have just been a one-off poor performance but if it is indicative of actual strength they will struggle to progress.

I don't know the results, but this guy is from the University of Manchester and reading between the lines, either he's in the team and was making a joke or he knows the results and Manchester will win the series.

Surely they haven't filmed all the episodes?

Either way

Joe Day is not in the team, but is doing physics with astrophysics - the same degree as one of the contestants in the Manchester team.

Possibly he is a friend of him and thus divulged whether they progressed a lot into the competition

Or perhaps in the same tutorial group as him... :K:
