You can sometimes work out which episodes were filmed when based on the contestants' changing hairstyles.

Did you have a haircut and shave before the next round, then?

Afraid not. :P

Also, how did you guys get on to the University challenge teams?

And how much uni did you have to miss? - I asked my friend if he was going to do it (at cambridge as well) and he said he didn't want to miss lots of uni.

I missed one lecture - how much you have to miss would depend on your university's proximity to Manchester. My uni is a six hour journey from Manchester and we were given times both at midday and in the early evening on a Saturday, so we travelled up on the Friday and back down on the Sunday.

I missed a day, which I happened to have off anyway. Most of the filming slots are on weekends, and two of them were during my holidays anyway. It's definitely not a big time commitment.

Oh, as for how I got on the team - we had trials, I went to them. :P If anyone wants to talk more about the whole process (within the confines of the confidentiality agreement) I'm happy to do so over PM.

I'm sorry! I don't mean to! I'm quite friendly really (most of the time!).

(As for this Sheldon Cooper chap, unlike him I can drive, I love talking to people and I don't understand physics. At all. Which is quite bad really.)

Your breadth of knowledge is quite intimidating I meant! Although I was quite proud that I got the Sigur Ros one :colone:

Morley?

You were excellent tonight!

The very same - it's downhill from here for me, unfortunately! (Opaltiger, on the other hand, is incredible. And such a nice chap, if he doesn't mind me saying so.) Glad you all enjoyed it!

I was very lucky on those questions: I wouldn't have done so well on the last two matches. I have a friend who has learnt Icelandic at Cambridge and is very much into Sigur Ross: she was watching it with us and was very disappointed at our hesitant 'Radiohead'!

V.good

It was nice to see both these teams at last as I watched them back during the filming. ^_^

Vaka is sung in Hopelandic (basically Icelandic gibberish) so you can be forgiven for not getting that from the lyrics.

Roger told me my name was more difficult to say. Whether or not it's quite as fun to say I'll let you decide. :h:

:gasp: I just watched the episode you two are in, you were amazing, and I can't believe you have TSR! I was watching the episode with my Mum and said you two were making the show particularly entertaining

(sorry I promise I am not normally like this, but for some reason I've always seen the people on University Challenge as famous in my mind!) :colondollar:

You've definitely won me over already! (I'm not usually won over until about the quarters!)

Though I still have an allegiance with QUB, sorry. :colondollar:

You are already a star - it can only get worse from here on in. Have you got an agent yet??

Ha, well, I was joking with the team that this was going to be my crafty way into showbiz (ending up doing a fairly bitter set for minimum wage at Blackpool North Pier), but I've not thought that far ahead yet...!

On the 'have you been in TV'section of the application form, I found it quite funny when the rest of my team was just writing n/a and I was like 'it won't fit!'

Yes that was an amazing name. I don't even know how to begin pronouncing it.

Having a super-long name is very unfair. By the time they've finally finished calling it out you've had time to think of 20 possible answers and come up with the best one. Compare that with Smith...

! Why do I have to be away to miss this! Serious catch up when I get home... Gah!

I'm in Thailand and watch it no probs. You can download a program called UKTV (free) and watch or download any program from Sky News, BBC1 and 2, ITV 1 and 3, plus a movie channel from the previous 4-5 days wherever ur
and no, I don't work for them!

This isn't true and I'm getting a bit tired of hearing it. After you buzz in, you need to listen to make sure your name is being called out (it's entirely possible someone else buzzed at the same time and they got there first). From where the contestants sit, you can't actually hear Roger Tilling that well, so it's important. I also found that the sound of the buzzer distracts you. Add general nerves on top of that and I really wouldn't recommend buzzing in before you have the answer, unless you're really absolutely certain it's on the tip of your tongue. (One thing you REALLY shouldn't do: attempt to use that time for some mental arithmetic. It just doesn't end well, ever.)

Also, everyone else who's been on - which teams are you (or were you) all on?
