Water retention + bloating

I know that if you are dehydrated you get more of a bloated stomach due to water retention (correct me if i'm wrong) - but would drinking diet coke or something make it better or worse?

I knooow the best thing is to drink water but HYPOTHETICALLY what would relieve you most of the bloated feeling - drinking very little, or drinking more but of carbonated drinks?

thanks x

so 500ml a day of water will cause less bloating/water retention than say 500ml of water and 500ml diet coke?

personally, i don't really like water....(weird, i know). The only times i would probably drink water is if for example there weren't any drinks at home or in the cafeteria etc except for water (and mind you, that rarely happens)....i know its unhealthy but its just one of those things i HATE together with cheese and milk.....yuk!.......on top of that i've never had any problems health-wise.....

Diet coke bloats you more cos of all the bubbles (this doesnt stop me drinking 2litres a day).. it also dehydrates you rather than rehydrating because of all the caffine. so not a good thing to choose to reduce the bloat. but it does taste good!!
