I'm in Newcastle and one of my best mates from home is in Northumbria, he wishes he was in Newcastle, so i'd have to say Newcastle.
Reply 5
newcastle.

I'd say Newcastle, but it depends what subject. Newcastle tends to be more academic... not more hard working, just more academic. Though saying that, I don't mean that Northumbria is for stupid people. Obviously not.

Just tell us what subject you're doing, that might be the best way! :p:

I'd have to agree (from local knowledge)

As someone has already said; Newcastle for education, Northumbria for everything else but because we're all part of NUS, we get to experience most of what Northumbria has to offer anyway.

I have to disagree with your latter point. I find the nights at Newcastle so much better, and the freshers' week was by far superior, and better oganised, and the whole layout of the Union is better, and thats coming from my local knowledge about the place as well.

For another point, i work in a bar, and there are as many rahs wearing the Northumbria Jackets, as there are Newcastle students.

this is something im gonna find very hard to make my mind up 2! think i will make newcastle my firm choice due to it being a better uni for my degree but northumbria r gonna give me £1000 a yr if i go there and i can have a sandwich yr! hmmmm

Of what use will a sandwich year and 1k pounds/year be for you if you get a degree of lesser quality?
Newcastle Uni being the better one as you already found out for yourself should be enough to make the decision for a firm choice.

i heard that northumbria student union is better than newcastle is that true
Reply 15

i spose it makes it soo much better the fact that u can use eachothers facilities! i went up to visit northumbria last weekend n they was talkin bout how we can use newcastles library n stuff n then theres the student unions to go to! any 1 know if we get to use the new sports centre at newcastle? ive got a feelin im goin to go to northumbria but im soo stuck! its gud tho cos i like both unis n they r in the city n i love the city soo much! i think people with this choice r really lucky! i never realised how close the unis were to eachother, its only really the civic centre thats inbetween them! i cant wait to live in newcastle, schools really annoyin me atm!! :frown:

Bearing in mind you have to put the uni with the highest grades as your firm choice... I'm presuming Newcastle has higher grades?
Which means if you want to go to Northumbria but you get the grades for Newcastle you have to go.

y do u have to put the one with the higher grades first? yeh it makes more sense but then that sucks lol!
