Shisha or hookah -- good or bad?

How many of u actually smoked/smoke shisha or hookah?Do u people like it?

I have been trying shisha with my pals --both boys & girls--for the last one year or so & we have never lost its appeal.I was concerned about its negative effects so I looked at the net & found no direct harmful consequences.Try these links:

some agencies/research centres have mentioned that it is made of tobacco (only one-third) & might have little harmful effects,but all agreed they dont have any psychological effects.

what do they actually put in those things? i seen people on holiday do it at cafes. is it tobacco?

i don't know about it being harmful, i mean, i guess maybe the smoke could do some damage to your lungs? my most memorable shisha experience involves being at a restaurant in egypt with an anglican vicar egging me on to have a whole bong to myself :smile:

it was coca cola flavoured!

Its main ingredients are tobacco mixed with molasses and fruit flavors. However tobacco that is put into it is only one-third to that found in a cigarette.& this tobacco is of a different form.

We have tried only fruit flavours...my favourite is apple mint (the water inside has to be cold & mixed with lemon).
Its really a very pleasant & relaxing thing to do...especially if u are hanging out with your friends...some say its very good after sex! :cool:

N.B. Background music can act as a spice to everything!

Has anyone got any expert views about it?I think it is safe..smoking 15-20 hookahs is equivalent to smoking only 1 cigarette.

mind you, they've been in their toothless mouths beforehand, but meh, free grass! lol

Smoking shisha has been originated from the egyptians or arabs...but this trend has surely had profound effect in most of the western countries.I am not sure about UK's stand in this respect.Those of you who havent heard of it or tried it before...i recommend u try it once with your friends...
The atmosphere should be very relaxing & friendly.Remember that it does not constitute smoking cigarettes or any other similar stuffs which should never be encouraged! :p:

I used to... when we had a bit of a shisha obsession. Nice flavours. Uhm does the fact that the smoke is cooler/less harsh mean that it's not as bad for your health, or is it just an illusion? Also I think you take in a lot more nicotine, which isn't great.

shisha isnt as bad as cigarettes though. its cooled and filtered....you can smoke it in hookahs in a bar in reading!

Shisha IS really bad for you..
I read somewhere I cant remember (there may have been another thread about this a long time ago) that smoking one coal is equivalent to about 18 cigarettes. Not good for you in the slightest. But very enjoyable so I do it occasionally still! :p:

erm... I don't think so. I have been to egypt loads of times. In taxi's in egypt hundreds of times and never even heard of that.

I think I made a thread about it ages ago.. but I thought it was just that the nicotine levels were equivalent to smoking 10 or so cigarettes. Not that I would welcome a lot of nicotine flowing through me (..though it does give quite a buzz) but I don't think you get a huge amount of the tar and other bad stuff?
