Newcastle Poker Society
Hi all, just to let everyone know that i have set up a poker society at Newcastle Uni.
Meetings are every monday at 7.30pm in the leazes inn. (just up from castle leazes, by the BMW garage). We have been up and running for a month now and have 50 members. Weekly meetings involve a league with prizes every month and every semester. Sign up online at https://data.ncl.ac.uk/AUCLUBS-SOCIETIES for only a fiver for the whole year. That money goes straight onto prizes. You do not have to play for money on monday nights, but the opportunity is there if you want it (just keep it on the low and dont leave money on the table)
Come along if your an absolute beginner and we'll teach you the basics in a friendly environment. There are more able players if you want a challenge, so theres a range of skill for everyone.
We also have regular trips to the casino (grosvenor) starting with our first one this thursday 10th November. If anyone is intested in coming, you do not have to be a member of the society for this social, so bring all your friends. The majority of us will be playing a £10 tournament down there. If you have never been down to the casino then this is ideal as you'll be surrounded by plenty of other students. We are meeting at 6 in the mens bar of the union and leaving at 6.30pm. If most of us get knocked out early on then we will be heading to a nightclub to get wasted.

I play at the £10 Grosvenor game occasionally but really don't enjoy it all that much as it's pot-limit. They do do a £10 NL game on a Sat mind you...

Unlucky, i have been to aspers but didnt see any poker being played, which is why i asked. Think the best thing to do is ask next time im in there.

Yeah I called Aspers the other day and the poker hasn't started yet. They're waiting for the tables to be delivered apparently

ahh no need for me to ask at spers then, will probably end up there with the football team again on wednesday...i dnt gamble (apart from poker cos i feel more in control) but aspers do a mean cheese and ham toastie so get as many as you can
