Taking the pill.

Hi all. I started taking the pill yesterday. I hate taking tablets but i did it ok yesterday. This morning however, as i got up late for work then had to tak eit in a rush, it didnt go down very easily. Then loadsa water that i was drinking with it came up but the pill didnt.

Anyways, i was wondering if any girlies out there who take the pill have any tips or ideas on how to take it thats an easier way?

Thank you.

I could never remember to take mine, so I ended up getting the contraceptive jab that lasts three months. Much easier.
A Friend told me she takes hers wit a cup of tea? no idea..that may help

Try not to rush when taking the pill as it will probably make it even harder for you. Perhaps change to taking it at a time of day when you are not in a rush to be anywhere, for example before going to bed.

Alternatively if you really cant swallow the tablet then you could try another form of contraception that doesnt involve taking tablets, eg the depo injection, or an implant?

Ooh sorry dont mean to hijack the thread but I was just wondering, does that hurt? Because someone told me you have to have it in your bum, is that right? Sounds painful!

Although it's in your bum it's not like you have to strip off! You just have to undo your trousers and move them down slightly.

It's just like a sharp jab, and it doesn't really hurt. You can walk, sit down etc fine afterwards.

It is sorta more hip area then proper bottom, which is why you don't need to get fully undressed. I find I do flinch a bit, but you stand up and lean on the couch thing so you don't fall over

No it's not so bad.
dont take it with water, take it with something thicker like milk or well, milk. its because it floats at the top of the water that its a pain, and it doesnt matter what time of the day you take your pill, just that you take it the same time everyday. I think they say the morning because you mostly wake up the same time every morning, but really, it doesnt matter. You're stuck with the morning for this month, but you can change to the evening if you want! Its perfectly safe, and to be honest, your less likely to be sick of have the runs at night, then during the day. THose initial 3 hours are crucial it isnt disturbed.

I think once you get used to taking it then you'll be fine, it just becomes part of your routine. x

I have two friends that were on Depo-provera(the shot) and they gained loads of weight and had horrible mood swings. I think that taking the pill really isn't that hard if you just set the alarm on your mobile and take it at the same time every day.

So you threw it up? If you have vomiting during the pill it isn't as effective...mostly if you vomit within two hours of taking it
I was on depo when i was 17 and i went to get my jab in the summer (when i was 18) and they wouldn't let me have it as it had been linked quite strongly to weakening of bones or something, i can't remember. So maybe that won't be an option. They said they were trying to get young women off it.

I'm surprised you have problems. Mine's just like a minature smartie - about the size of a lentil. I just put it in my mouth, swallow, and it slips down without having to think about it.

Do you tense up when taking tablets? I had a friend with that problem, the trick is to take your mind off it somehow.
About depo not being that painful)
Agreed

And i hate needles with a passion

those were my thoughts too. i'm really bad at taking capsule type pills to the point where i just tend not to bother with painkillers & in hospital have to have IV/liquid forms.

but the contraceptive pill i have is TINY & sugar coated & crunchy & doesn't really taste of anything - put in mouth, crunch & it's gone.

perhaps you could consider changing brand..?

You're not takin Microgynon 30 by any weird chance, are you?

Don't think your ment to crunch them. are you?
I find mine no problem to swallow, normally goes down ok with just a swallow or a mouthful of juice.
