Year 7 Cats scores- scoring

Does anyone know how the year 7 CATs are marked? I'm in year 9 and I just found out I got 133 on my year 7 CATS. Can anyone tell me if that is good or not? Ellie

I know, but I kinda looked in a teacher's book. It was just sitting there open in front of me on the right page. I couldn't help it.

also because students don't 'normally' know their scores, I doubt you'll get your answer here. Why don't you just ask your teacher if it's good or not?? They can't really do much now.

It is the 'The Cognitive Abilities Test' didn't you do it?!?!?!?!
Well it is the most widely used test of reasoning abilities in the UK. It is used to understand individual pupil potential and learning styles, CAT helps to inform decision-making and target-setting.

I did the CAT in year 7. I think it was used to determine (or as one of the factors in determining) whether we were "Gifted and Talented".

Oh yeah the CATS. I remember this boy who got the highest score in the year in maths but didnt do that well in his maths part of the CATS and he was put inot second set whilst the first set got lower levels than him :eek:

Anyway, is there only one CATS in year 7 or is there another one in year 9 ? also what is after the CATS to help the teachers ?

Whilst we are on the topic had the MIDYIS tests got anything to do with the CATS ?

aparently I got like one of the highest scores in my class but i was never told i was gifted or talented

Yeah, you do another one in Year 9. Apparently the Y9 ones help determine your predicted GCSE levels, but it's a load of crap anyway. Plus G&T is hardly accurate; a lot of people who are in it doesn't deserve to be while there are lots of other people who should be in it but aren't.

that was the SATs test, unless you're saying SATs are the same as CATs...

Yes, we did have SATs at the same time as CATs. In fact, we had End of Year exams at the same time as well then, so we had a ridiculous three exams that summer.
