The portrait made by Pablo of his parents is kind of nasty. He describes them as people who don't care about him and who tottaly neglect him. In this portrait we can see well the relationship between the son and the parent, it's not a normal relationship based on love and trust. Indeed, it seems like even if they spend holydays together, they still are not a family. We can see that the mum doesn't care about her son since she thinks he should not rely on them too much. His dad is busy with some other people and seems not to have time for his family. Normally, in vaccation, son and father are supposed to play together, but we can see that Pablo and his father are strangers to each others. Thus, we can see that Pablo because he always have lived far away from his family is independant and is used to live without his mum and dad. In this household, there is no familial values. There is just a "money relationship" between pablo and his parents, he was never in need, his parents always gave him the money he wanted. The one thing he had to do, was to work at school and get average marks. But Pablo has changed, he did not want anymore to do what his parents wanted him to do. Thus he decided not to go at university in the US. It means that in some ways, he wants to get rid off his parents conrol on him, he is fed up with it.

El retrato hecho por Pablo de sus padres es bastante desagradable. Les describe como personas que no le importan y le destenden totalmente. En esta pintura podemos ver bien la relación entre el hijo y el padre, y no es una relación normal fundada en amor y confianza.
De hecho, parece que si pasan las vacaciones juntos, todavía no son una familia. Podemos tener entendido que la madre no le importa su hijo porque piensa que no debe depender de ellos demasiado. Su padre es ocupado con los demás y parece que no tiene tiempo para su familia.
Normalmente, en las vacaciones, el hijo y el padre tienen que jugar juntos, pero podemos ver que Pablo y su padre son extranjeros. Pues, podemos entender que Pablo es independiente porque siempre ha vivido lejos de su familia y suele vivir sin su madre o padre. En esta casa, no hay valores de familia. Solamente hay una 'relación de dinero' entre Pablo y sus padres; nunca necesitaba algo, sus padres siempre le dan lo que quiso. Lo unico que tenía que hacer, era trabajar en el colegio y sacar buenas notas. Pero Pablo ha cambiado, no quiso hacer lo que sus padres querían. Entonces decidió que no iría a la universidad americana. Significa que quiere deshacerse del control de sus padres, está harto con eso.
