Epilating underarms?

I was just wondering if any females on here epilate their underarms? I bought an epilator yesterday, tried it on my legs and it was fine, so I am now feeling brave enough to use it on my underarms, even though I know it will probably hurt! The hair is quite short so I think I should be ok.

I was just wondering though, do you use it in a downwards direction (like shaving) or an upwards direction? Theres nothing in the booklet about how to do it. I know the skin has to be kept taut, but Im a bit worried about hurting myself.

Any advice appreciated, thank you!

I do it upwards. It doesn't hurt that much as long as the hair is fairly short (but long enough to do).

I *love* my epilator! I use it pretty much everywhere - arms, underarms, legs, muff. Keep the skin taut and go against the direction of hair growth and you'll be fine.

Ow - sounds painful!

Ive just done it now and it honestly wasnt that bad- it was a little uncomfortable at first but you soon get used to it. Think I'll stick to this now and forget shaving. Thanks for your help guys!

ouch ouch, i couldn't even do half my bikini line with one...it just sits in the box now. Love sugaring, much less painful, you're all very brave, tho i guess it gets less painful with time! x
you'll have to do it all different directions with your underarm, or so I find. But it means you won't have to bother at all there for a few weeks, unlike shaving every day! epilation always the best way!

I've tried using my epilator and can use it fine of my legs, but if I use in anywhere else - bikini line & underarms the hairs all grow back ingrowing. Can anyone suggest anything to stop this?! It is really annoying cos I cought it wanting to use it instead of shaving, but I still have to shave. Any ideas please!!

keep on exfoliating to stop ingrowers
I've tried that, but it just seems to reb the tops of all the ingrowing hairs and I end up with little scabs over the all - really attractive!! and then if I want to shave I end up taking the tops of all the scabs...

Pain wise, are epilating and waxing on the same level?
epilating is worse - but then i never thought waxing hurt

I think waxing is worse than epilating..I don't think it hurts that much, but when I remove those wax strips from my legs, it hurts like hell n my tears juz literally burst out...ouch***
