The best rugby player in the World Andrew Johns has admitted that he might switch codes to Union at the end of the 2004 NRL season. Having been to the world cup and been blown away by the atmosphere he has recently admitted that going up against Jonny Wilkinson would be a challenge that he would relish.

For Johns, a celebrated hero in Australlia, there is nothing else for him to acomplish in Rugby League. Captaining his home side, state and his country, whilst winning every honour in the game the challenge of big Union internationals and offer of big money will probably temp the 29 year old to Union. He has just recovered from a career threatning neck injury which could and has realised that at his age perhaps it is time for a new challenge.

In other words. Englands bubble is about to be burst.

He'd cakewalk it in union, all top class league players and even normal standard ones can just walk into union and get international caps as although union is more popular the actual skill level in league by the backs is higher. Just look at robinson, he was great in league but hes awesome in union as less players can tackle to as high a degree.

Union is a minor sport in Australia. League and Aussie rules are the most popular sports. I'm in 100% agree with you about League backs. Australians know that is true but due to the medias 'slightly' biased towards Union in this country, I bet few have heard of him, despite being on another level anything union can offer.

Johns is a class act, weve just signed his ex half back partner at the team i support, castleford tigers, sean rudder. Is he any good?

This country is all union unless you're in lancashire and yorkshire where all but 1 super league teams originate from at last count. It is seen as the poor mans game.

He isnt as good as Orr but a solid player.

You dont need to tell me that lol, i'm from Lancashire. But seriously I'm a union boy, brought up with it, played it all my life. I admit League players are better, there is no doubt about that. It is seen as the poor mans game in England, yes but it is superior in many ways. I doubt England would have won the world cup if they didnt have Phil Larder as defensive coach. That says it all.

I assumed you were from australia! As much as it pains to say me, england were boring to watch in the world cup and have an effective but boring style of play, a bit like liverpool a few years ago in football. No-one can replace Orr, he is a cas legend but Wigans only one step up the evolutionary scale from leeds....

Would you like to see Johns go to Union? Once upon a time I would have said no but now I think the English media need to be shown that Wilkinson is far inferior to Johns. The way the media protray Wilkinson in this country is a joke. He can kick goals. Wow. He has very little to offer when compared to Johns and IMO the sooner the English media realise that the better.

Johns with the ball in hand is better than any player in any form of rugby, brett kimmorley is nothing compared to him, even with eddie and stevos best efforts to hype up his average performances in the test series. I think there is only the two of us who know about rugby league on UKL...

Orr should do well at Wigan. With respect he has got world class talent around him now, I just hope he does impress because GB are screaming out for a natural stand off.

I hate to say it but compared to League, Union is boring.

Kimmorley is still class though. I'd say he was better than Wilkinson. You have to remember he was carrying an injury and still produced some magic.

Lol probably. That was my point earlier though. No one knows who Johns is and thats why I want him to move to Union. I just want to see what the media make of him over here when he runs all over England. I'm a true England fan but hate the media.

Btw Johns also has the best short kicking game in the world.

What did orr get in the test series? not even a call up. Its stupid, we'll play a prop at stand off next. Ryan hudson at least got a friendly though, he was cas' best player last season.

I understand where your coming from. Unlike in Australia the national side is picked from 5 clubs really.

To be fair Sculthorpe is world class though and IMO better than Orr. Although I would have played Sculthrope at loose, Farrell and Peacock 2nd row and Morely at prop. That is a formiddable pack and then we can finally get a specialised stand off in Orr.
