*** HELP *** Submitted incorrect grades to UCAS :s

Basically, I added my wrong grade for one of my choices, and it is a B in Physics, whereas I got a C in Physics. I just found out today, when I did a re-sit exam and received the certificates. Last year, I received just a sheet of paper with the grades on, which said a B in Physics, which is why I entered it as B.

Now, I find out today that the school made an error when printing my grades and it was supposed to be a C and not a B.

Should I tell the universities?

Would they think I took it as a joke?

Would they reject me because they believe I tried to fool them?

I'm so worried that this might result in rejection :s

The sooner you get this fixed the better. I would strongly advise you try and get someone from your school (i.e. your referee) to phone up these universities immediately. Unfortunately, they will view it very suspiciously if you call them up yourself.

I will try that. Should I tell the universities, that I am ready to retake it if necessary, or leave it to their decision?

You made a mistake but have corrected it immediately. It would be worse if you left them to find out themselves.

Thanks. This made me feel a lot better now. I really hope that they don't take my mistake into account. BTW Would they actually find out should I not let them know? (I'm going to tell them anyway, but just wondering if they can find out)

You also need to write a letter to UCAS informing them that your subject or grade has changed.

Changes in exams and course arrangements

You must write to us immediately if your exam subjects, modules or units, awarding or examining board, centre number or any other details change. You must also tell the universities or colleges where you have offers or those that are still considering your application.

Universities or colleges usually base their conditional offers on your exam details. If your details change, they may change their offers or decisions.

If a university or college cannot confirm your exam results because they do not have enough information, they may not be able to offer you a place. Please tell us and the university or college immediately if anything changes.

You're gonna have to show them your certificates anyway, so yes.

They have ways of finding out such things, so yes

Thanks. But then again, they can't judge it whether it was a lie or a mistake, can they?

I think the difference between a lie and a mistake is that if you have made a mistake you will contact them to sort it. If you are deliberately lying then you will just leave it.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate your help. I've already contacted 3 universities and sent them an email. And I don't feel that down anymore either.
I don't know how much UCAS has changed from my time but if it was AS level grades, I wouldn't have worried much as they suddenly become irrelevant when you have the A level grades. I think the universities only have access to your final grades through UCAS once you have your final A level results, at that point the offer moves to unconditional or unsuccessful. I don't think they are given your AS level grades until the end.

I dont get what is suspicious... what would he gain from telling the uni's that a mistake had occured?
omgg that is .....
Have you done it yet? This is a matter of urgency.

They might suspect he initially lied on his UCAS form deliberately and later realised it was a stupid idea ... Hence why it's important his school confirms his story.
