People with eczema, what cream or products do you use?

I have eczema and over the last few months, it has got alot worse. It's all over my leg, my arm, my back and hands

I use oilatum (2 capfuls a bath), aqueous cream when I have when having a bath, diprobase everytime I go bed and fucibet cream. To be honest, I found that none of them seem to be working, and I am confused to why my skin seems to get worse day by day, yet I am using all these products. I am thinking of just using oilatum to see if there is any improvement.

I drink around a 1 litre of water a day, go gym 3-4 times a week doing cardio and weights. Yet, I see no improvement.

Should I eat a certain food and drink that help eczema? I do drink orange juice alot, and started eating yogurt. I always read how vitamin C in orange help skin, yet I see no improvement.

Is there a cure for eczema? I used to scratch my body when my skin for itchy, I think that has cause the red spots. But over the past few months, I don't scratch that much and my skin is still bad.

Just like to hear from people with eczema and what products they use? if it has been helpful? etc

Thanks

I don't have eczema myself but my brother had it really badly when he was younger he even had to be hospitalised a few times because it led to infections.
The cream products he'd been prescribed included Cetraben cream, Double base cream, epaderm wax things plus hydrocortisone and modrosone and many others I can all remember. My mum tried all the over the counter stuff like E45 as well but they didn't do much good.
Are you allergic to anything? My brother's eczema was partly due to him being very allergic to milk
I used to have eczema all over my arms, back, neck, legs and belly. Ever since I began using natural products, my eczema has cleared like crazy. The doctor gave me all that steroid crap. I used that stuff for ages and it did nothing. Now I use a coconut oil +tea tree oil concoction for my eczema in particular, or sometimes I just moisturise my body with pure shea butter on my damp skin after showering. I don't really use commercial body lotions (not that they're bad for you, I mean, I would use one if I needed to). I still have a bit of eczema on my hands and a little on my face, but it has cleared from the rest of my body.

By the way, pure shea butter is verrrrry good for skin conditions like eczema. The same for coconut oil. Tea tree is anti-bacterial, anti-septic, anti-inflammatory.
Just incase you're interested, I mean the pure 100% shea butter like here (this is a very good price btw) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SHEA-BUTTER-100-NATURAL-100g-FREE-P-P-/110623187382?pt=UK_HeathBeauty_BathShowCons_RL&hash=item19c1a7e1b6

I've got eczema atm, and I've been using E45 cream. It's stopped the irritation a bit, but hasn't been too great. Might be worth a try though
I sometimes use Diprobase and sometimes Epaderm. It works like a charm when I do use it.

Liz Earle Products helped me a lot. I had terrible eczema on my thighs but it cleared up nicely after Liz Earle was used

Aqueous Cream is fairly good, i use it for dry skin ...........not eczema i know but its amazing.
my dry skin is fairly similar to that of eczema. You can get it in places like boots, superdrug, supermarkets, other beauty stores

Ask your GP to prescribe you Tacrolimus... it's the next level up if none of the steroids work for you. (I'm not an expert but it worked totally for me a few years ago).

I use eumovate on my face (I swim a lot and that can dry my face out) and dermovate on my arms and back, which is stronger. I also use Palmer's cocoa butter twice a day and exfoliate with Clinique exfoliator once a week (it's pricey but decent and a little goes a long way). There's few shampoos and conditioners I can use, only L'Oreal Elvive and the more expensive hairspray brands. Johnson's baby wipes to take off make up and distilled witchazel before I go to bed, it's very effective. I use oilatum shower gel too, it's great for when I'm shaving my legs haha.

I am not allergic to anything, but my mum says that I shouldn't eat hot food like currys and chilli as it make my face red, makes me sweat and causes bad skin.

I been seeing my GP since I was little, and I always had eczema, so he obviously know what products to give me.

I am tempted to try to buy something in boots or sainsburys and try it for a while. Do people with eczema use what their GP give them or they buy products from shops?

Cetraben emollient cream is amazing.

My doctor said to use Hydrocortisone for above neck, and Betamethasone for below, and vaseline or something with paraffin wax for overnight. Dermol for soap substitute. seemed to work

I don't know if anyone has suggested this yet, but Betnovate is actually amazing, clears it up in a few days and the itching is gone really quickly. My grandad used to use it and my boyfriend's dad let me borrow some recently (he has really bad eczema too) and it worked really well.
However, I think you might need to get it on prescription. But if you show yours eczema to the doctor then there shouldn't be an issue with getting it.

Try Oilatum solution when you bath and then as soon as your dry put on a decent amount of the Oilatum cream, don't rub it all the way in but let it soak into your skin. Worked well for me!
Whenever I shower, I use only natural showergels/soaps and hair products from Lush, and then cover myself in Diprobase once I've dried. I use Lush's bodycreams (Dream Cream and Sympathy For The Skin mainly) on any dry patches and my face. I also use something that's generally a bit of a no-go for eczema sufferers: a talc. The talc is from (you guessed it!) Lush and it's called Silky Underwear. I use it on my very sore patches of eczema behind my knees just before bed. This helps my 'wet' eczema dry out and become much calmer for when I wake. And happiness, a lovely boyfriend and lack of stress helps immensely!

I do have betnovate ointment and betnovate cream, I always use fucibet instead, I might try those two to see if there is any improvement.

My doctor prescribed both E45 and eumovate cream for mine... The E45 works fine for mousturising but it doesn't do too much to get rid of the actual eczema. The Eumovate cream on the other hand works really well... you're only meant to use a tiny amount when it gets really bad because it contains steroids but it really does work really well.
Don't scratch it. Trust me, I know it's hard but I now have red spots and little scars on the insides of my arms from where I scratched mine...
It does get worse in the cold weather though so that's probably why its got worse over the past few months, just don't scratch it and go and see your doctor, see if they can give you anything for it.
I like Aveeno cream, I used to suffer really badly with ezcema on my hands in the winter (bleeding etc) but Aveeno has cleared it up brilliantly. Good luck, it's horrible until you find the right stuff for you. I tried E45 itch relief cream but it made my skin feel like it was burning :frown:

I find just using fucibet clears my eczema up pretty easily. As for what you can do to prevent it, have you thought about washing powder? I can't use biological washing powder and also if my mum uses a different washing powder to normal it makes my eczema flair up.

If your eczema is red and itchy then I would suggest not using diprobase and any other 'moisturising' treatments, and using fucibet etc. to dry it out. Then you could use diprobase afterwards. This is what works best for me but yours sounds a lot worse than mine!

Also, this is probably really obvious but I thought I would mention it just in case - make absolutely sure you wash off anything you put on your skin such as aqueous cream or soap, and pat-dry gently but thoroughly. Don't wear tight-fitting clothes that can rub, even if you don't notice this specifically irritating your skin. Sometimes the little things can make a difference, but it sounds like you're doing quite a lot to try and get rid of it, so good luck

Is there a cure for eczema no there isn't. I wish there was and if u do find one let me know.
I've used all those creams you've mentioned and yea it didn't work. However my eczema is alot more controlled as i have stopped using products with mineral oil/petroleum which is basically most of the creams i get from the doctor lol.

At the moment im using Aveno daily moisturising lotion, I've substitute it instead of using E45/diprobase/Eumavate. You no its a base that i use about 2/3 times a day before and after a shower.

But also you should try unrefined pure shea butter, but make sure your not allergic before you do. Also try pure coconut oil just try new things don't just stick to the crap you get at the doc if its not working , experiment.

I think you shud defo try using more natural products see how ur skin reacts to that. Hope that was of help if you need any more advise let me know
