Education is...
One of the few things a person is willing to pay for and not get.
William Lowe Bryan

[Education] consists mainly in what we have unlearned.
Mark Twain (1835-1910) American writer.

The whole object of education is...to develop the mind. The mind should be a thing that works.
Sherwood Anderson

You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself.
Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) Italian physicist and astronomer.

There is a great danger in the present day lest science- teaching should degenerate into the accumulation of disconnected facts and unexplained formulae, which burden the memory without cultivating the understanding.
J. D. Everett [In the preface to his 1873 English translation of Elementary Treatise on Natural Philosophy by A Privat Deschanel. (D. Appleton and Co.)]

art is lies that tell the truth
piccaso

pysics is a form of insight and such it is a form of art
david bohm

beauty is the first test, there is no place in this world for ugle matamatics
g.h hardy "a mathamaticians apology"

http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/eduquote.htm
http://busboy.sped.ukans.edu/~adams/eduquote.htm
http://members.aol.com/svennord/ed/quotes.htm -hmmm...these look abit anti-education but I've only skimmed them
http://www.houseofquotes.com/quotes/education/
http://www.heartquotes.net/Education.html
http://www.etni.org.il/quotes/education.htm
http://www.indianchild.com/education_quotes.htm

Ok, I'll stop there, but I have a short 'lesson' myself- "Google is your friend."

If you wanted something a bit more specific then ask, I have chosen general education ones but if you'd prefer something/someone more specific then I'll have a closer look.

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. - Toffler

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. - Picasso

Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it. - Richard Feynman

When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute-and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity. - Einstein

Bah, Muslims are always doing that, saying things to empower women and acting as if women are lower than men. One of the many Islamic hypocrisies that drove me from the religion.

I'm not dwelling on the religous aspects, but the mere truth in that quotation.

Indeed it is a very good quote. I just wonder how much of that Malcolm X actually believed.

You shouldnt judge a religion by its men rather by its scriptures...does Malcolm X mistreat women?

Its men do certain things and claim the scriptures justify them. As someone else put it, "practical Islam" is disgusting.

It was Edison, obviously inspiration was lacking in his mind.

well you can practise it and not 'disgust' people...see this is it with organised religion i bang on about it all the time...you get told what to do, and ignorant people follow. You can interpret the scriptures how you want...and follow what you believe. Don't listen to sad sods who bang on about hell and heaven 24/7...this applies to all religions btw.
