It's flattering isn't it? Go for it I reckon, us blokes can be shy on occasion. Course you could try to be subtle first...
I've had girls ask for my number before, i'd say it's more of a compliment than anything. Times have moved on a bit from the days when guys always had to make the move.

Nothing wrong with it at all...particularly with guys like me, who are often too damn shy to make the first move  (unless I've had quite a few drinks beforehand, and by that point I've sort of lost my tact, charm and subtlety, so me making the first move doesn't really go down too well )
Yeah, I think I'll go for it I've got nothing to lose! I think he likes me too, he'd noticed what hall I'm in and I've never even told him! This is a good sign no? I catch him looking at me too.

Hey, just wanted to know whether guys would be comfortable for a girl to ask for your number, cos I'm not sure whether thats really the done thing. Do guys need girls to look really keen, cos thats the way that they can gauge feelings, or should I be more subtle? This balance seems so difficult to acheive!

Be yourself

Totally agree.

Just ask for it confidently and it will be fine. If you stutter your way through saying "can i have your number?" then you will obviously embarass yourself, but as long as you have an air of confidence about you when you say it, im sure the man will take it as a very positive thing.

i'd take it positively even if she stuttered lol.. its cute

yeah go for it and let us know how it went =)
or what you could do, if he ever has his phone out is put you're number into his phone, that way he has you're number but u dont have his so then he'd have to text you 1st and you can probably gauge if he likes you...
Of course they like it.
I got his number- wayhay! Even if it was under the pretence that I could ask for advice for my course. Then again, if I asked him for his number, do you think that he would get the message that I like him anyway? I'll give it a few days before texting him.
cool! well done!

ohhhh, if i was a man and a woman asks for my number i would be very happy.. id have a big smile on me face
Guys always wish that girls would take the initive and ask for a guys number. It means they don't have to do any work! If you ask him, then yes he's going to think you are interested, and it means he doesn't have to play silly games to try and get your attention or try to figure out the inner workings of a womans mind to find out if you like him back. It's much easier for them
