maybe i am you, maybe we are twins. since you are from london too!!
we can have a hot chocolate party!!

ah veggie and catered def would not go together well i doubt! i bet all breakfast is is just bacon EVERYWHERE!
yeah it has some band 3, which is 106 quid i think. and the band 3 is really nice, i'd say just as nice as the band 4. it's 8 people to a kitchen in the block i had a look around! i'm like a knowledge machine about york atm, and pandas haha. the cool thing about the band 3 is, they have under bed draws! that's like a whole new level of storage space, so useful!
i know people have said bad things about alcuin, it was quite quiet but obvs people must go out and socialise. james is tempting, so close to the gym and i will be forcing myself to the gym in search of some endorphins! its weird though, james band 4 looks rough in the pics, its juts a big room with a big bathroom but a horrible bed and desk... rather have small and nice i think!

this flat would be awesome, if we fail to make any friends and find no people who want to share with us, we'll get this flat haha. i bought some new hot choc yest - but i'm yet to try it cos i also bought some chocolate milk

Sorry for butting in im just curious to know what ''hot chocolate milk'' actually is :P . I just use ordinary milk I dont seem to get the silky consistency :frown:

We should all live in a flat together. We could have a different flavour of hot chocolate every night :awesome:

Ha! Woo! Peppermint, orange, caramel... the possibilities are endless!

When I went to visit my friend in Exeter it was so nice - she and most of her flatmates have a freezer with lots of chocolate cake in and they have movie nights in their kitchen

Well last year I was getting rejected from unis (obvious ones lol - UCL, Cambridge e.t.c.) so I was thinking about taking a year out, so I asked my teacher about study abroad programmes, he told me about the scholarship, I looked it up and applied
It's really not too hard to get on - you don't have to be academic even!

such a great oppurtunity! coming to york will be a breeze compared to going across the pond all by yourself!!
i feel like i'm wasting my gap year now! but since it wasn't planned i feel i have more of an excuse... i think! i think i'll just have to have an amazing gap year after university, or every university 3 month summer haha!
Just found out that student finance opens next month...so I went on the website to check, and it has all my info from last year, before I deferred. I did cancel it, but it suggests that I am returning to my second year of studies; I didn't get paid the loan obviously as it only does that if you turn up for the course. However I don't know whether it will allow me to apply as a new student next month? Does anyone else have this issue? Any info would be massively appreciated as I am now a bit worried that it didn't actually cancel my finance for last year :/

Haha, I know what you mean, but I had organised and booked my gap year before any word of increased costs came about. I'm going to teach in Kenya for four months, then Australia and New Zealand and it would have been diastrous and unfair to the other people involved to back out then. Besides, I'm going to spend half my life paying back all the fees anyway, I might as well do it with some wonderful memories  though if I'd known about the increased fees before applying, of course I wouldn't have gone the hard way!

Oh that's amazing actually! I would say it is worth it if you have stuff planned, as we are all going to be paying back forever anyway! I decided for a gap year at the last minute and had nothing planned, and still don't! If the fees went up this year I would have been so pissed off, but luckily I get the cheaper ones  Gap years with nothing to do however are pretty awful, but I think I just february blues, scottish weather is soo depressing!

Yeah it's been amazing! I really like the idea of going from New York to York  It's not certain that I'll be at York just yet - waiting for my retake results to see if I can choose between York and Exeter for English. If my retake is a bust once again, it'll be York. I'm happy either way - it's just a question of whether I do English or English and Politics

If you have an unconditional offer you get to apply in early August (something like the first Monday of August). If you have an conditional offer you apply on results day, or a day or so after. You'll be sent an email when you can apply, so don't worry about it

2) when do we apply for student finance?

You can apply from March 16th.

You are a star, thank you! What are you hoping to study and which college are you thinking?

Will I have had to accept York's offer before I can do this?

 Do you live in Scotland? It's my absolute favourite place on earth, whereabouts are you? Aha, I get what you mean about the weather, though it's not much nicer in England! Yeah, I figured it would be worth it, and when I'm slaving away for 100 years to pay back the loans, perhaps if I look at some sunny photos I'll remember why I did it  Ah, sorry if your gap year's feeling a bit uneventful, at least you can get experience at work and driving etc, and there's always bizzare inexpensive stuff to do for fun, like water pistol fights in the summer! I can't wait to go to York though, I'm already planning which societies to join  (archery, medieval, riding and poetry so far!)

Not sure if that's directed at me... But, if it is, I'll be studying English and I have no idea which college I'm going to pick yet.

I thiiiiink so, but I'm not sure. I get the feeling you have to say which university you'll be going to when you apply for it, but I'm really not sure so you should check before you apply.
