Alis tests predictions for my A levels

I'm getting my Alis test results back soon though I suspect I'll have been predicted far lower than I'll actually achieve; it was a similar story with the CATs, etc.

In any case, I told them I was studying English Literature & German when I took it though I've subsequently dropped both subjects and picked up Politics instead. I think my results will be, as a result, a little bit meaningless!

My tactics for the maths/geometry-type sections? Guessing!

I think I did pretty well on most of the "Englishy" section though towards the end my ability to choose the right synonym just about disappeared.

I wouldn't worry about them too much.

Basically Alis predictions are based on ur AS/GCSE grades and what other people with similar GCSE results/AS got for their AS/A2 Levels. I got my Alis predictions for my AS levels and they're really high due to my GCSE results but that's not always the case because I know people who got Ds in AS levels after getting A*s in GCSEs. I know this maths genius and she was predicted a B in maths but it was only because of her overall gcse score. I think it's very inaccurate since it doesnt take into account your personal strengths but it's satisfying if you do get above your target grades. Don't take them too seriously.

are they? i'm pretty sure alis tests don't consider your gcses but are based on a very hard 'Alis' Test.

alis is really unreliable, it relies on gcse results, and i didnt do great on them, a-levels are fine, tho :wink:

 i didn't take any test and was told it was all based on my GCSE results and what people got for their AS with similar GCSE results. Actually i think we were supposed 2 take a test but didnt get round to doing so, so probably it is a different method. I think the yr 13s last year did the Alis tests because I think I remember someone telling me but we got our predicted grades without doing anything.

you tell them your GCSE grades too on the sheet. i think. thinking back, i don't know why i didn't lie and say i get straight Es, that would have been cool...

alis tests are based on all of your gcses. I got a nice spread of GCSEs (A*-D) so although I got an A* in Maths it predicted me a C/D. It's a stupid test, if you want suitable predicted grades ask your teacher what they expect you to get.
Yeh weve gt our 'alis' grade predictions n mine r AAB, dnt know french yet. But i kinda hope that they will be accurate:smile: Ooh but maybe i cud go with getting higher at maths- an A!! hahahahahahahaha (laughs uncontrolably)

Thats true i got A* for GCSE maths and a straight A at AS level but am predicted a C from Alis hahaha i dont think so
I think from ALIS I'm predicted BBBBB and in our school your target grades to aim for are one grade above ALIS because apparently ALIS grades seem to come out too low against what people actually get (in my school anyway).
We did are alis test a few weeks back and it's just a bloody waste of time. I think we're getting our results back tomorrow. We did a similar test called YELIS in year 10 and I was predicted all B and C's for GCSE yet I managed to get A* and A. So don't bother to even read the results!

lol, yeah, alis/yelis are complete bull. It's so depressing to think how things like these are messing around with people's futures

The Alis tests are rubbish they predicted me CCC for my A levels even though im predicted AAA and everyone at school is predicted really low grades how does this thing work
For example last year, a guy was predicted EED and he managed to get AAB therefore are these tests even reliable or just a hoax.
Our school is investigating whether they apply to a school like ours since it has a large number of asian students and the tests dont seem to be showing the actual results the pupils recieve overall.

Yeh because the alis tests are well known not to be accurate for specifically asian students ...??

Our school used something else, whereby they gather information on: Your background (ethnicity, where you live (yes your postcode), etc), parents income, whether your parents went to university, your GCSE results and your attendance.

It was useless.
