If you bid on and win an auction, you're obliged to complete the purchase - unless the seller chooses to release you. This is explained quite clearly on the bid confirmation screen, I'm afraid. Contacting the seller is about as much as you can do.

Not much, unless the seller is feeling generous. When you click through all of the confirmations to buy it you're signing a contract, agreeing to pay... Just see what the seller says.

Can't you go through with it and then ask for a refund? Sellers on ebay seem to decline purchase cancellations more than refunds lol which doesn't make a lot of sense.. but yeah if you have to complete the transaction it may be worth trying to get a refund after, letting the seller know you will give good feedback. If not can't you sell the item again yourself? If you wanted it a few days ago though isn't there any chance you may change your mind later and want it again? lol

I agree with most - just buy it then sell it straight away, after you get it. Either sell it for the same or a higher price.

It was a trench coat from Primark that I won for 99p but no longer wanted.

The seller was very kind and cancelled my transaction!

Lol. That's great. But I think he/she was happier than you that you cancelled it. He was obligated to sell it and you were obligated to buy it. But why would you have worried so much about 99p? I would have just bought it and given it to Oxfam or other charity. Just 99p for a good cause...
