Hey I don't think you need worry. There are LOTS Of international students in the UK, there are also British students who don't drink... and I think you'd be a bit disillusioned to believe drinking is the only pastime of many.

I don't drink a drop myself.. so hey! Hang out with people like me

Probably even I drink a lot when going out but when I am at home I don't drink at all. Afew people on my course drink but quite a lot don't.

There is so much culture in universities you can do what you want really.

There is a strong drinking culture for uni students...but don't worry...there are plenty of people at uni...home and international students who don't drink at all....it's still very easy to socialise and meet loads of new people and make new friends without drinking yourself.

You'll get used to it!

Part of my tradition when visiting universities is to visit the local to have a drink before and after. This has included days when I've had interviews.

The time I should regret however, is when I was in Oxford - the night before my first interviews. I intended only to have a couple, but I ended up drinking far too much. Waking up early in the morning to find myself still under the influence and remembering that I was first in line for interview was a horrible thought - these interviews would determine the rest of my life!

That evening, after the interviews, we applicants had drinks with the tutors - I was drinking at a relatively fast pace. The chemistry tutor was chatting with us about the chemistry of the beer in my glass for some reason. Nevertheless, I should've learnt my lesson from the night before - little did I know that I had another interview the following day!

Well, I got an offer in the end. How did I celebrate? With a drink, of course...

Lol sounds about right - there is soooooo much alcohol in Oxford. It really is any excuse - we have subject drinks evenings quite often with free port and champagne, but it's always funny to chat to your tutors when they've had a little bit too much!!!!

Hehe, that's what I ask people!

I don't drink at all.

Coincidentally I have less debt than most of my friends who do drink...

A pint of beer or cider has about 200-250 kcal but they are empty calories. They also lower your blood sugar levels, making you feel hungry afterwards - which means even more calories!

Drink up!
