There's a pillow that vibrates spontaneously to wake you up. It's an alarm clock but inside the pillow and it's also a LED Clock.

My problem is a bit different, I wake up 5-10 minutes before the alarm clock start, which I hate because I want the alarm clock to wake me up and I don't want to waste 5-10 minutes just laying down in bed waiting for the alarm to ring. Sometimes I fall back to sleep again and I won't hear the alarm clock anymore. So what I do now is right when I wake up, I jump into the shower right away even though it's kind of cold and just wait till it heats up.
That guy looks pissed off.

Get some new speakers and do the computer alarm idea. But make it ask you to complete a set of challenges (chess, sudoku etc) before turning off.

My alarm on my phone makes me do a maths sum to turn it off...

It's worrying how hard it is to multiply two numbers and add another number unless you're actually awake!
Cool what app is it?

Get one of these

If you get anything too loud and then move in to uni halls you will piss off your flatmates. In my first year I was woken up every morning at 6.30 by the alarm of the guy in the room next to me.

I use my phone alarm and have it under my pillow so the vibration wakes me up before it gets too loud.

I've got an android phone so it's the Sleep-as-an-Droid app
Also it has a sleep tracker so you can see how deep/light your sleep is!

I am so bad at getting up that I have considered writing some kind of script on my computer that plays loud music until I enter my password.
Good idea. Time for me to become l33t.

If you have an iPhone, get Sleep Cycle, run the app and put it under your pillow. You set an alarm for roughly when you want woken up, and the phone records your movement patterns during the night. If you start tossing and turning close to the time, you're in a light sleep state and the alarm will go off prematurely. Because you're in a light sleep state, you're less likely to want to go back to sleep because you'll feel refreshed. This is in opposition to deep sleep, where you hardly move. If you're woken up in deep sleep, you're usually grumpy and groggy.

If you have an Android phone, there's a similar app called Electric Sleep. Don't bother with Sleep like An-droid, as someone else mentioned in this topic. There's lots of talk of it getting stuck in a loop, crashing and leaving your phone incredibly hot due to overheating. In some cases, the phone goes into emergency shutdown and your phone wont even be able to set your default alarms off.

BUY MORE ALARMS!

I used to own an old fashioned wind up clock, the damn thing was SO LOUD it was terrifying, I would scream as it woke me up.
It got to the point where I'd wake up 20 seconds before it went off because of some kind of unconscious adrenaline/anticipatory fear of that alarm.

That was a bit extreme haha. At the moment I've got a phone with really powerful vibration, put it under my pillow. The vibration is so loud/extreme that it wakes me up before the song starts playing!

I went through a period of setting a ton of alarms, but this makes it worse, you learn to sleep through them.

Drinks loads of water before you go to bed, not to much though or you'll be waking up in the middle of the night.

Other than that, there's nothing better than a regular sleeping pattern, bed approx same time every night and waking up approx the same time everyday(even sunday/days off).
